The official inquiry looking into instances of money laundering at casinos in the western Canadian province of British Columbia has reportedly criticized the government for not doing enough to help stop the illicit activity.

According to a Wednesday report from the CTV Television Network, the Commission of Inquiry into Money Laundering in British Columbia heard testimony from 199 witnesses over 133 days and has now produced an 1,800-page document laying out its findings. This body was purportedly charged with looking into suspected instances of money laundering at casinos in the province during the decade to 2018 and detailed that several local ministers had not done enough to stop this illegal activity even though it was often happening in plain sight.

Hard-working head:

Former British Columbia Supreme Court Justice Austin Cullen (pictured) led the official probe and reportedly determined that billions of dollars in cash had been laundered through British Columbia casinos during the decade examined. The official also purportedly noted that the pervasive nature of this issue had not been helped by the seemingly apathetic approach of those in…

In the United States and the National Football League (NFL) has reportedly announced the signing of deals that are to see DraftKings Incorporated, FanDuel Group, and Caesars Entertainment Incorporated serve as its official sports betting partners.

According to a Friday report from the Associated Press news service, the agreements represent a radical rethink for the professional gridiron football organization as it was earlier one of the staunchest critics of efforts towards legalizing sports betting in the United States. It had purportedly argued that the activity threatened the integrity of sports but soon began changing its tune following the 2018 invalidation of the previous prohibition contained within the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA).

Original opportunities:

The news service reported that the new alliances are to give FanDuel Group, DraftKings Incorporated and Caesars Entertainment Incorporated the rights to use official NFL trademarks and data while simultaneously integrating their services into the organization’s official app and NFL.com website. Over 25 American states now offer their residents the ability…

Mordheim: City of the Damned is a turn-based strategy game based on the Warhammer Fantasy spinoff Mordheim, a saga about a giant city left ruined by a magic meteorite that’s now home to all sorts of ne’er-do-wells. As former PC Gamer editor and Warhammer fan Tom Senior put it in 2014, “It’s like the end of the Hobbit, except the armies are 1000 times smaller and prone to incurring terrible injuries and mounting psychological damage from battle to battle.”

A bit niche, perhaps, but still quite good, and if you haven’t played it yet now’s your chance, because it’s free for the taking as part of GOG’s 2024 New Year Sale.

To snag your free game, head over to GOG.com, scroll down a bit, and click the “add to library” button. No, it’s not exactly the sort of thing that requires a tutorial, but there is a time limit: Mordheim is only free until 9 am ET on January 28, so grab it while you can.

You’ll recall I also mentioned a sale: GOG is currently offering discounts on more than 4,600 games, DLC, soundtracks, and other digital bits and bobs. Frictional Games’ horror SOMA and Amnesia: Rebirth are both 90% off, taking them down to $3 each, and quite frankly you can’t go…

I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Baldur’s Gate 3, but I did have several instances where I thought: “man, it’d be good to have Dispel Magic here.” Clouds of darkness, enemy buffs like Haste—they’d all make for prime tactical dispel targets. In an interview with D&D, founder and CEO of Larian Studios Swen Vincke revealed that they’d tried to make it work, but couldn’t for one tragic reason—it’d break the game in half.

“We wanted to do Dispel Magic, for a long time it was on the table, but then it just became too much, because there’s so much magic in the game. It was always like: ‘what if I come in and I do Dispel Magic? And I’d say ‘oh my god, my head is exploding’. So that’s why you don’t have Dispel Magic in the game.”

For those of you who aren’t magic initiates of Dungeons & Dragons’ 5th edition (D&D 5e), Dispel Magic is the cousin to Counterspell, except it can be used after the fact. Here’s a snippet from the spell’s description, courtesy of the publicly available Systems Reference Document (SRD): “Choose one creature, object, or magical effect within range. Any spell of 3rd level or lower on the target ends.”

Get ready to tune your Radiation King brand television sets to Amazon Prime Video: The Fallout TV series will begin streaming on April 12, 2024.

The announcement comes to us on Fallout Day—the Great War began on October 23, 2077, making today the day to celebrate all things Fallout—as Amazon tweeted an animation of Vault Boy typing up the streaming date and then giving his iconic thumbs-up:

Hopefully the announcement of the release date means we’ll start getting showered with teasers, trailers, and who knows, maybe even entire scenes from the show. I’m desperately curious to see what Amazon has cooked up since we don’t know a heck of a lot about it yet. It’s set in Los Angeles (though it was shot in Utah, New Jersey, and New York) and some set photos leaked earlier this year, but we don’t know much about the story or characters yet.

Some of the cast will be familiar to TV enthusiasts. Fallout stars Ella Purnell from Yellowjackets, Walton Goggins from Justified, Michael Emerson from Lost, Zach Cherry from Severance, and Kyle MacLachlan of Twin Peaks.

Interestingly, and I only just noticed this, but actor Moses Arias is the only one credit…
